Self Restructuring Communications Process
The Self-Restructuring Communications Process is a proprietary tool offered by GBCI to align the practitioner with the organizing power inherent in one's present moment.
During my early days as a consultant, I realized that much of my experience around the communications process was riddled with fear, doubt and guilt. I was fearful that conversations with clients would not bear the fruits I sought, I had doubts about how to proceed when they showed signs of derailing and felt guilty with the outcomes received. In addition, I noted that when I engaged with clients I appeared as one person, with coworkers another and with friends, family, acquaintances, I showed up in yet another way. From this I began to wonder which me I actually was and why I was unable to be the same person all the time.
After considerable reflection, I came to the conclusion that I was fundamentally afraid that I could not be who I was and also achieve what I wanted. I pretended to be someone else who I thought was more deserving of what I desired for myself and since I did not know how to be myself, I was never actually present to appreciate the outcomes achieved. To remedy this situation, I decided to place my awareness into observing what was taking place during my interactions. Subsequently, I discovered that my mind was constantly jumping, to thoughts about the past to thoughts about the future, and how seldom my mind was in the present moment. I noticed that when I experienced fear, my mind had moved into the future, when I experienced guilt, my mind was in the past and when I was stuck in doubt, I was suspended between the two. I began to wonder, if dwelling in the past and future resulted in guilt and fear, what would happen if I remained in the present moment? And how could I accomplish this?
Over time, I observed that despite the fickled nature of my mind, there were aspects of myself that always resided in the present moment. One was my body and the other was my breath. From this discovery, I experimented with the means by which I could accomplish three things: to remain present while engaged in conversations, to notice when I had left the present moment and the ability to identify a path back to the present. The result of my journey is The Self Restructuring Communications Process, a practice which will return any practitioner to their own seated power inherent in the present moment.
